The british magazine
MG Enthusiast in November 2004 published this :
Safety Fast MG : Portrays the main MG cars between 1924-2004. Published by Anecdote Editions. 48 pages hardback, price 35 Euros.
Of all the publications received at the editorial offices which have commemorated MG's 80th anniversary this alternative example from French publishers Anecdote Editions stands out from the crowd. Rather than following the established route of larger houses, the publishers tell the MG story through a collection of pencil drawings and fine watercolour prints by Philippe Godet and Sylvie Vernageau. The result is a splendid collection of paintings which are brought together in a spiral-bound book that is individually hand produced and numbered to order. Despite providing little text other than extended captions, the images, which are reproduced on thick watercolour paper, build up a cross-section of the development of the MG marque up to and including the MG SV. Beautifully printed and something all enthusiasts could re-visit time and again, the Anecdote Editions MG sketchbook is a worthy addition to any MG fans collection."
And from the U.S. we also have this great article in the bi-monthly magazine
SACRED OCTAGON. Dick Knudson writes in April 2005:
"I am absolutely delighted with a new fine art book from France called, simply, Safety Fast MG 1924-2004. What pleases me is the uniqueness of this book that features the artwork of Sylvie Vernageau and Philippe Godet. This is a different kind of MG book with the emphasis on the eye appeal of the cars we love. The art is stunning with every single page a treat for the eyes. A simple handwritten text (in English) accompanies most illustrations, but the focus is on the artwork that reveals exactly how we feel about our cars.
This lovely book has a hard cover with a spiral binding that allows the book to be displayed flat with the pages open. I know that you are really going to enjoy this one because it is so different from the norm. Yes, it's expensive but if you like MG art, you'll enjoy this book. BritBooks has a limited supply on hand; after that, your order may take a few weeks to fill.
What is so nice is that this art book comes on the heels of two other important MG art books: The Motoring Art of Harold Connoly and Campari and Soda Bread. In my library I have all of the classic MG titles as well as a good assortment of the also rans. These three art books have given my book collecting compulsion a real boost. Having three books devoted to MGs through pure art lifts my appreciation of the cars I hold in such high esteem to an entirely new level. For a breath of fresh air, do yourself a big favour and make sure these three books are in your library."
We feel very honoured to have such words expressed by people of such expertise as Mr. Dick Knudson. Just look at the books he has published and his past MG experience. We are so happy to read his comments, and delighted to see our passion and dedication to create beautiful books recognized. Once again,
Merci Beaucoup !
